DAV Centenary Public School celebrated International Yoga Day




News 127. DAV Centenary Public School, Jagjeetpur, Laksar Road, Hardwar, celebrated the 10th International Yoga Day on June 21, 2024, with great enthusiasm and fervor with blessings & inspiration of esteemed President Sir, Padmashree Dr. Punam Suri ji & as per instructions of Director PS, Dr. V. Singh. International Yoga Day, annually observed since its establishment by the United Nations General Assembly in 2014, aims to raise global awareness about the manifold benefits of yoga. This year’s theme, ‘Yoga for Self & Society,’ underscored the importance of yoga in fostering holistic well-being.

The day commenced with a special morning assembly, presided over by the school Principal, Mr. Manoj Kumar Kapil who welcomed the chief guests, Mr. Amit Chauhan, Upadhyaksh, Zila Gram Panchayat, Haridwar, Dr. S.P. Singh, NSS District Coordinator, media person Mr. Naveen Chauhan and certified instructors from the University of Patanjali, Haridwar—Mr. Harshit Sharma, Mr. Avichal Verma, and Mr. Sunu Khadka.

In his speech he addressed students, parents, teachers, and support staff highlighting yoga’s holistic approach, which enhances physical health, mental well-being, and spiritual growth, promoting a balanced lifestyle and fostering community and personal transformation.

Following the assembly, a mass yoga session was conducted in the school premises, led by accredited instructors from Patanjali Yog Peeth. The session included basic asanas (postures), Pranayama (breathing exercises), and meditation as per protocol. Total 528 students, NSS volunteers, parents, and staff members participated, demonstrating excellent discipline and commitment.

Participants were recognized for their contributions by the DAV College Managing Committee, New Delhi, with certificates acknowledging the holistic benefits of yoga, improved posture, and overall well-being.

Highlight of the day was a mesmerizing dance based on yoga performance choreographed by the school’s dance teachers, Ms. Deepmala Sharma and NSS program officer Mrs. Poonam Gakkhar. The performance showcased fluid movements and synchronized poses set to tranquil music.

The program was successfully organised under the coordinatorship of Mrs. Sonia Tyagi, Mr. Kamal Pant, Mr. Sanjay Chauhan, Mr. Vipin Shah, Mrs. Amita Singh & Mrs. Nidhi Yadav. International Yoga Day serves as a reminder of yoga’s enduring relevance and potential, reflecting its ancient practice and principles. The event underscored DAV Centenary Public School’s commitment to nurturing a culture of wellness and mindfulness, ensuring that yoga continues to play a pivotal role in promoting lifelong health and happiness within the community.
